Brumbies

Due to the Queensland floods, I will be very busy at work for quite some time. So this blog doesn't go completely to pot, I'm scheduling a series of my own poems. If you leave a comment, I may not get back to you for some time.

The pound of ancient thunder
in the horses' drumming hooves
a steady throbbing heartbeat
through the gully
down the valley
across the stony plain.

Long chestnut necks are plunging
rushing through the foamy spray
creek water churned with hoofbeats
through the gulley
down the valley
across the stony plain.

Chocolate clouds of dust
the wild horses' route describe
to the clear, all seeing sky
Above the gulley
and the valley
across the stony plain.
